It was a very warm, sunny morning. We sat by the table eating breakfast. And breakfast is not really my favourite time of the day, as usually at least one of the kids moans: “Porridge again?!” or “Those scrambled eggs taste funny,” or “Noooo! Not the pancakes!” So, there is a lot of breathing involved in order not to strangle them! 😉
That particular morning, though, everyone seemed satisfied with the breakfast. I looked at each of them, and in that moment, I felt… an embrace of grace and gratitude for being their mum. A mum who cares, is full of patience, open to play, explore, listens, cuddles, supports, encourages and inspires. I felt blessed for my own friendship. I loved that person called Marianna. And I loved the feeling of loving her. Over two years ago, I wasn’t in that place at all. I used to judge myself all the time, filling the cells of my body with self-hatred. I blamed myself for every challenge the kids were facing. I never felt like a good enough mum – to the point that I believed the kids would be better off without me. My eyes began to fill with tears.
“Are you crying, Mum?” asked Marcel.
“I’m feeling very grateful.” I answered.
“Why?” asked Wiktor.
“Because I love being your mum.”
“And we love having you as our mum,” said Aliya.
I would love for every mum to feel her worth and her ‘enoughness,’ because every mum is THE BEST – perfectly perfect for her children – and was chosen by them. They chose the experience of how to be born or how long to stay in the womb without being born. They chose how long to stay on Earth… There was no coincidence. It was all part of a divine plan.
If you’re a mum and you notice that you tense up and judge yourself (or others) quite a lot, I want to invite you into a different reality — one where you can be gentle, caring, patient, and loving with yourself. Just allow yourself to feel those vibrations, bathe in them, and breathe.
We don’t need to wait for someone else to give this to us, quite the opposite. We can offer it to ourselves, any time. And honestly? It’s 1000 times better than sweets! It is delighting in being — and that is truly powerful. When it’s anchored in the body, it lasts and gracefully spreads to others.
