I-remember

Nature’s wisdom

This year, we had a summer so dry and hot that even the oldest Brits can’t remember ever experiencing anything like it. here wasn’t a drop of rain for weeks. The grass turned completely yellow and spiky everywhere, quite literally like straw.

The fruit trees in our allotment didn’t bear many fruits, and when they did, they were much smaller than last season.

Everyone was talking about how desperately we needed rain. People were becoming anxious, exhausted and even angry.

But nature didn’t.

The trees, grass, plants, flowers — everything simply waited.

Patiently.

The rivers didn’t become angry and turn poisonous because their waters were drying up.

The trees didn’t start falling because they were fed up with the heat.

The plants didn’t decide to uproot themselves and run away.

Nature waited.

And when the rain finally came, nature received it fully.

It only took two days for the grass to turn green.

It seemed like a miracle.

That’s how incredible nature is.

It doesn’t say, “I’m not enough.”
Or, “That’s too much.”
Or, “Maybe later.”

When it’s time to receive, it receives fully, with an open heart.

This realisation left me in a deeply contemplative state.

Why not follow nature’s example?

Be.

Wait.

Don’t question everything.

And when the moment comes…

Receive fully.

What would change in your life if, instead of resisting or questioning what comes your way, you allowed yourself to simply receive it fully, even when what comes is uncomfortable?

Because I know that beneath the unpleasant sensations, there is hidden goodness waiting to be discovered. And the gateway is through the discomfort itself: to stay with it and allow yourself to feel it deeply, even if it takes days, weeks or months.
