I-remember

A bucket of love

It happened while we were in New Zealand, getting ready for bed. Aliya and I shared a room, while the boys slept in the other room with Sylwester. But that night, Sylwester had to work until midnight, so he wasn’t there to fall asleep with them.

“I can’t sleep when Daddy isn’t with us,” Marcel said.

“He’ll be in bed with you as soon as he finishes work. It’ll just be a little later,” I reassured him.

“But I can’t fall asleep. I start having scary thoughts,” he admitted.

“What kind of scary thoughts?” I asked.

“About volcanoes in Japan.”

At the time, Japan was on our travel list, and we had already bought our plane tickets.

“Okay. Where do you feel it in your body, Marcel?”

He pointed to his forehead and throat.

“Now, just focus on those areas—really connect with them—and start breathing,” I guided him.

To my surprise, he immediately began breathing deeply.

“Now, imagine you have a bucket filled with love. Pour all that love into those afraid parts of your body.”

“Love is energy…” he whispered. “Like pouring water?”

“Yes, exactly—like a stream of love water. You can imagine it as white or golden, for example.”

“Or green?” he asked.

” Of course! It can be green! Any colour you choose.”

After about 30 seconds, he smiled.

“It works!”

He crawled into bed, and just like that, his fear melted away. The trouble with falling asleep was gone.
