I-remember

It’s all about the process

For the last two months I have been putting all my energy and attention into starting BodyAwake® Yoga in Derby. After a year of the teaching certification program, I felt a strong urge not to wait, but to start sharing this beautiful work of Dr Sue Morter and the Morter Institute with others.

It’s thanks to BodyAwake® Yoga that I am remaining stable throughout the thorough renovation taking place in our house, and compassionate towards my body after the relapse of rosacea. The most challenging pose of all, especially during intense times, is simply getting onto the mat. And this is what I have been doing daily for the last year.

During all the preparation – booking venues, setting up a page on my website, creating flyers and posters, and doing door-to-door leaflet distribution – something really struck me.

It is never about the end goal – it is all about the process.

The end goal exists only in the mind. It is an illusion; it doesn’t truly exist. But the process is ongoing, and our role is to train the mind to enjoy it.

This is BIG.

How often do we stress, worry, and imagine worst-case scenarios simply because we want something to be finished – so we can finally relax and feel happy?

But the “finish line” is always shifting – it’s part of life itself.

It can feel exhausting for the mind, because it believes there is always something to do, to tick off, to complete.

So, what if we began to enjoy the process without needing a final outcome?

It’s helpful to start with small things – enjoying cooking dinner, brushing your teeth, combing your hair, writing a shopping list. And by enjoying, I mean truly feeling that sense of ease and presence in your body.

I invite you to gently begin noticing:

Do I become tense because I am focused on an outcome?

Can I soften?

Can I take a deep breath in and a deep breath out?

Can I allow myself to enjoy the process?

The truth is nothing needs to be finished for you to feel at peace – peace is already available in this very moment.. The more we return to the process, the more life begins to feel like something we can truly live, rather than something we need to complete.

P.S. I’ve started my Facebook page – if you’d like to follow me, you’re very welcome to click here.
